  • Owner of Marz Media
  • Guitar/Vocals for Solidarity
  • BAH Communication Studies and BA Political Science

“When I was a young kid I believed that the real world used to be in black and white, because the only visual perception I had of the world long ago (before my own existence) was from old black and white TV footage. I had come to see TV as a window to reality, instead of seeing it for what it truly is, a produced image.”

LENI AMIR LEBHERZ
  • Co-founder & Actor for Rock the Truth
  • BAH Communication Studies with Minor in Political Science 2008
  • MA in Intercultural and International Communication at Royal Roads 2010

"Mixing of traditions and cultures has always been a part of my life. It has always been my goal to have a positive influence on the way people think about those who they feel are different than them. Media has had a large role to play in this and that it is my responsibility to experience firsthand what is being portrayed on television, to make sense of it and to learn from it. Throughout this learning process, I have traveled far and wide to capture the true aspects and diverse relations that make up the reality in which we live. This has lead me to work with several organizations and educational institutions dedicated to social justice. It has been my gratifying pleasure to raise money and awareness for a university based poverty group, a mountain glacier protection NGO, and now Rock the Truth. Having been accepted teachers college, I now plan to teach what I have learned in new and interesting ways and to assist youth to the best of my ability.”

RYAN CANDIDO
  • Coordinator & Host for Rock the Truth
  • BA Honours in Drama in Education and Community

His passion for teaching students on the topic of Media Literacy sprouted in an elementary school placement and never stopped growing. After meeting with Adam Marz and Leni Lebherz, he joined Rock The Truth as Host and Coordinator, further developing the teacher-in-role and tying in his experience in the classroom to create a more interactive and dynamic experience for the students.

Rock The Truth combines the media literacy unit, with a wide range of technologies, and different interactions to create a completely new and unique experience for students to internalize media studies and be informed about media technologies. If every student was made aware of this, it would promote positive change, and how they interpret the media.

“The social interaction between the students in the classroom has a drastic result on how the students learn. Embodying the lesson harnesses the power of learning; it enables the students to create memories that are based on more than sitting in a desk and reading a book.”-R. Candido
